Wright, Purchasing Agent, (404) 842-6771 The Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention has a requirement for services to determine
levels of lipoprotein subclasses using the nuclear magnetic resonance
(NMR) spectroscopy technique. The vendor shall examine the association
of the atherogenic and anti-atherogenic subclasses with the
overweight, obesity and body fat distribution in children and
adolescents. Utilizing NMR spectroscopy, levels of lipoprotein
subclasses will be determined in 1000 samples randomly selected with
methodology allowing for the quantification of ten (10) lipoprotein
subclasses: Those ten subclasses are: 1) chylomicrons (diameter >
100nm); 2) large VLDL and remnants (60-100nm); 3) intermediate VLDL
(40-60 nm); 4) small VLDL (30-40nm); 5) large LDL (23-30nm); 6)
intermediate LDL (20.5-23nm); 7) small LDL (18-20.5nm); 8) large HDL
(10-13nm); 9) intermediate HDL (8.2-10nm); 10) small HDL (7.3-8.2nm).
