This is a combine synopsis/Request for Quotation(RFQ) for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only quotation; quotes are being requested and a written quotation will not be issued. The solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through the Federal Acquisition Circular (FAC) 97-5. The Television Audio Support Activity (T-ASA) intends to procure (65) each Multiplexer/ Demultiplexer; multiplex eight different RS-232 asynchronous data signals into one RS-422 synchronous aggregate which then be connected to Armed Forces Radio and Television Service-Broadcast Center's (AFRTS-BC) Scientific Atlanta PowerVu MPEG-2 Encoder System model D9130. Detail description of the multiplexer will be provided upon request. The government may also consider purchasing an optional quantity of 65 units within twelve months after date of award.Offerors are required to successfully complete an oral presentation of the multiplexer/ demultiplexer at AFRTS-BC, March ARB, CA. The presentation will require the vendor to test the multiplexer/ demultiplexer under real world conditions to ensure that the vendors' offer meets the specifications required by the government. Failure to integrate the offered multiplexer with existing government equipment at the presentation will render your demonstration unacceptable and would not be considered for award. The oral presentation must be successfully completed and certified by the T-ASA Contracting Officer's Technical Representatives. The duration of the test period and oral presentation shall not exceed 4.0 hours in length. Tentative date to conduct the Oral Presentation is between 9/8/98 through 9/18/98.
