COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF AUGUST 26,1998 PSA#2167U.S. Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Prisons, Procurement and
Property Branch, 320 First Street NW, Washington, D.C. 20534 G -- SOCIAL SERVICES POC Bonnie T. Sinsel, Supervisory Contract
Specialist The Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP) is conducting market
research and exploring initiatives/possible options for the most
suitable approach in its effort to procure bed space for federally
sentenced juveniles in response to a program initiative developed in
cooperation with the Department of Justice. Specifically, the
requirement is to house federally sentenced juveniles in secure
facilities within 250 miles of their family in accordance with the 1998
juvenile statement of work. The 1998 juvenile statement of work adds
significantly greater program requirements compared to the previous
statement of work. A copy of the draft 1998 juvenile statement of work
is available upon request. This synopsis is for information and
planning purposes only and does NOT constitute a Request for Proposals.
This notice is to advise industry of an opportunity to comment, discuss
any perceived issues related to juvenile confinement, and to allow the
Government to receive benefit from these comments. To accomplish this,
the FBOP will conduct Industry Interchange Meetings (IIMs) in
Washington, D.C. during the period of September 21 to September 25.
IIMs will be of two hours duration between the hours of 9:00 am and
3:00 pm. This will be the industries opportunity to meet one-on-one
with government representatives to discuss the delivery of services to
Federally sentenced juveniles in a secure setting. Interchange
meetings will be held on an individual basis. Should travel to
Washington, D.C. be undesirable, interested parties may elect to submit
comments in writing. Comments will not be critiqued. The Government
will not pay for the information solicited or any costs incurred by
responding to this request. Proprietary information is not being
solicited. The purpose for the interchange meetings and industry
comment is to determine program feasibility, identify potential problem
areas, and receive recommendations in order to enhance the success of
possible solicitations which may be issued. The FBOP believes industry
feedback is important, and is receptive to all ideas which would
result in the success of the juvenile initiative. Comments received
from industry may or may not be used to complete a final
Performance-Based Statement of Work and associated solicitation
documents. The availability of any subsequent soliciation will be
synopsized prior to release. Eligibility to participate in any future
acquisition does not depend on a response to this notice. All
interested parties should contact Bonnie T. Sinsel, Supervisory
Contracting Officer. Appointment times will be on first-come,
first-serve basis. To receive a copy of the 1998 juvenile statement of
work or to discuss any program issues related to Federal juveniles,
