The Library of Congress intends to issue a delivery order against an existing Basic Ordering Agreement to obtain a subscription from American Business Information, Inc. for the use and access of their services by U.S. Department of Commerce, US Census Bureau,Washington, DC. American Business Information, Inc. provides access to over 11 million U.S. and Canadian business records which include company name, address, phone number, SIC codes, name of owner, number of employees, and annual sales volume. In addition to the business component is a database of 105 million US households and 11 million Canadian households. Access is gained by using a PC and modem. There are no minimums, no waiting, and complete control over the information. Users can perform counts for statistical analysis of existing or potential markets or locate additional vendors or suppliers. ABI's fixed media CD-ROM has a record key system that allows users to analyze any given marketplace by SIC code, number of employees, sales volume, geographic location, franchise specialty, small business owners, etc. The storage capacity of the CD-ROM allows access to the database of over 10 million unique business establishments.
