This synopsis does not constitute a formal Invitation for Bid or
Request for Proposal and is not to be construed as a commitment by the
Government. The Government does not intend to pay for the information
received. There will be no contract award made as the result of this
Request for Information. A formal Request for Proposal will be issued
at a later date. The formal Request for Proposal will be issued in
accordance with FAR Part 12, Commercial Item Acquisition. The Naval
Inventory Control Point seeks the names of interested parties to
dispose of approximately 1,500 excess aircraft engines. The engines are
not in ready-for-issue condition nor are they flight worthy. The
contractor shall be responsible for the retrival of the engines from
various locations, demilitarization of the engines in accordance with
DOD procedures and the disposal of residual hazardous materials that
may be contained in the engines in accordance with EPA procedures. The
contractor will also be responsible to retrieve and dispose of some of
the engine shipping containers. Interested sources shall submit their
