This procurement uses Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP) and is being conducted under the NAIS/ARC Pilot for receipt of electronic offers. This pilot was developed in response to the National Performance Review's call for increased use of electronic commerce in exchanging procurement information. Vendors wishing to participate in this procurement must first install and utilize the applications (provided free of charge) identified at http://klatu.arc.nasa.gov/Projects/NAISPilot/NAIS_Pilot/Tools.html. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12 procedures. The procurement is for a high resolution display system capable of illuminating specified points not larger than 100 microns within a three dimensional volume at least on inch on a side. The required addressable resolution must be in excess of 200 points per linear inch, implying that the points must be no larger than 127 microns in size. This system must be capable of refreshing at least 1000 points in the display at a minimum of 30 Hz. This resolution and refresh rate is required for research into rendering algorithms for such three-dimensional displays. The anticipated release date of the RFQ is August 27, 1998. The anticipated closing date is September 10, 1998. This procurement is a total small business set-aside. See Note 1. Delivery to Ames Research Center is required within 60 days ARO. Delivery shall be FOB Destination. The DPAS rating for this procurement is DO-C9. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice.
