COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF AUGUST 21,1998 PSA#2164Department of Veterans Affairs, Great Lakes Healthcare Systems, Great

WI 53295 66 -- ABI PRISM 377 DNA SEQUENCING SYSTEM SOL 69D-382-98 DUE 083198
POC Michael Cunningham, Contracting Officer, 414-902-5407 The US Dept
of Veterans Affairs, Great Lakes Acquisition Center, is planning to
negotiate a sole source contract with Applied Biosystems, a division of
Perkin-Elmer, for the ABI Prism 377 DNA Sequencing System and related
software, to be delivered to the Madison WI VA Hospital. This is
considered to be a sole source because it is the only system that
offers four different dye technology. Using four fluorescent dyes per
template reduces the lanes used per sample from 4 to 1. This fourfold
increase in capacity per gel allows multiple users on a single gel run.
Other sources who believe they can supply the same or equal equipment
must furnish product information to this office by no later than 4:30PM
on Aug 31, 1998. Information may be faxed to 414-902-5440. Posted
