(215) 656-6780, Contract Specialist The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers,
Philadelphia District, intends to award a firm fixed price Job Order
for the Overhaul of the Sea Going Dredge McFARLAND. The vessel is an
all steel Seagoing Hopper Dredge, 300 feet in length, with a beam of 72
feet, and a depth of 33 feet. The loaded draft of the vessel is 23
feet, 0.875 inches forward and aft, and a light draft of 15 feet, 3
inches forward, 16 feet, 6 inches aft. Gross tonnage is 6,036 tons. The
Government will deliver the vessel in open water near the contractor"s
facilities. The work to be performed consists of dry-docking,
utilities and services, hull painting, dredge pump repairs, hopper door
repairs, installation of Global Marine Distress and Safety System
(GMDSS), trunnion repairs, and replacement of hull plate, piping and
castings. Upon completion of the work the vessel will conduct dock and
sea trails prior to delivery back to the Government. Prospective
contractor must have, or be capable of, entering into a Master
Agreement for Repair and Alteration of Vessels and have certified
dry-docking capabilities for the vessel. The vessel is scheduled for
operations along the East Coast of the United States before and after
the shipyard repair period. The area of consideration will include
facilities between New York City and Charleston, South Carolina. If the
location of the facility is outside the operating range of the vessel,
those facilities outside of the range will have their bid surcharged
per nautical mile based on the operating rates of the vessel. The total
performance period for this procurement will be Thirty (30) calendar
days. Contractor will be required to accept the vessel within
Forty-Eight (48) hours upon receipt of an award. Solicitation No.
DACW61-98-B-0024 will be issued on or about 27 August 1998 with a
closing date on or about 29 September 1998 at 1400 hours. Prospective
contractors interested in receiving a solicitation are required to
submit a written or faxed request (215) 656-6780. Prospective
contractors are also required to forward documentation/information on
their dry-dock/graving dock capability and certification with their
request for a copy of the solicitation. Submittal of a dock
certification will be a factor in consideration for an award. This
office will not accept telephonic requests. The Size Industrial
Classification (SIC) code is 3731. This is an unrestricted procurement.
