The Naval Air Systems Command intends to negotiate with GEC Marconi Sensors Limited, Basildon, England for the procurement of forty AN/AAR-51A NAVFLIR systems, or such quantities deemed by Congress and the Government of Spain. NAVAIR intends to issue a firm fixed price contract for FY 1999 and include options for FY 2000 and 2001. The contract will include those supplies, services, and data necessary to support the manufacture and installation of these systems on the AV-8B. This contract will be awarded as specified by the terms of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) which directed the procurement to GEC. GEC is the sole developer and manufacturer of the NAVFLIR and maintains exclusive proprietry data rights to the system.
