COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF AUGUST 18,1998 PSA#2161R -- VERY SPECIAL ARTS (VSA) The Social Security Administration (SSA)
intends to negotiate with Very Special Arts (VSA) on a sole source
basis to conduct policy education activities aimed at promoting careers
in the arts for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Supplemental
Security Disability Income (SSDI) recipients. The project will entail
conducting a 2- day ArtCareers Expo in Los Angeles, California aimed at
SSI and SSDI recipients, and the development of a Career Guide for
Artists with Disabilities that will include information about job
titles in which artists with disabilities are successfully employed
which will serves as a resource guide. Based upon market research, SSA
has concluded that VSA possess unique capabilities for satisfying this
requirement because it is the one and only organization uniquely
qualified to carry out the tasks of this project based on its
recognized expertise in arts education for people with disabilities. No
