(512) 326-6031 The Department of Veterans Affairs, Austin Automation
Center, intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Bell Atlantic
Federal Systems, Washington D.C., for continuing service in support of
our current 10-megabit, Ethernet connections provided by Bell
Atlantic's Fiber Distributed Interface Network Service. To the best
knowledge of the VA, Bell Atlantic is the sole provider of this
specific architecture/service in the Washington, D.C. area. Any vendor
responding to this request shall provide evidence that they can
provide the service described, in the Washington, D.C. area. This
evidence must be detailed enough to allow the VA to determine the
possibility of the respondant submitting a valid proposal. The
determination to compete this requirement based on responses received,
is soley within the discretion of the Government. If a solicitation is
issued, no additional synopses wil be published. All responses must be
submitted in writing within 15 calendar days of publication of this
