USSOCOM intends to issue a sole source purchase order to PARA-FLITE Incorporated for 15 upgraded MT1 XS/XL parachutes. These parachutes will be replacements for existing inventory that have reached the end of their authorized jump-life. The reason justifying the lack of competition is that PARA-FLITE's parachutes are certified "Authorized for Navy Use" (ANU). In accordance with FAR 6.302-1, and in conjunction with the agency's standardization program, only this specific make and model of technical equipment will satisfy the agency's need for additional units or replacement items, and only one source is available. Salient characteristics of the parachute are: seven (7) cell main canopy and seven (7) cell reserve canopy with static-line and free fall capability and be capable of accepting a military CYPRES AAD. This notice constitutes a Request for Quotations. No other solicitation will be issued. The closing time and date is 1200, Friday, 28 August 1998. The proposed contract action is for supplies for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement and will be advised as to how to submit their product(s) for future evaluation and possible inclusion in the ANU listing. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. However, all quotations received by the closing date of the Request for Quotation set forth above will be considered by the Government.
