This amendment is being issued to make clarifications to the original combined synopsis/solicitation issued July 24, 1998 and to answer questions raised at the pre-solicitation meeting held July 29, 1998 at Norfolk Naval Shipyard. The requirement description is amended to include the following: The radio frequency range required by Norfolk Naval Shipyard is 300-450 kHz. FCC certification is required. It is the responsibility of the vendor to insure that the unit provided is in FCC compliance. The vendor is required to provide the documentation necessary to insure the unit is in compliance. The work piece sizes, shapes, dimensions and heat treatment specifications are as follows: Dia. Length Shape Material Heat Treatment Specs 12" 6" Cylinder AISI 8620 Case harden to Rockwell "C" 58-0.045 depth 7" 3" Hollow Cylinder AISI 8620 Case harden to Rockwell "C" 58-0.045 depth 15 " 3" Hollow Cylinder Mil-S-24093 Through harden to Gr 4340 140,000 PSI yield minimum Note: The three entries in the above tableare the most common parts that will be heat treated in the furnace. There are no requirements for factory acceptance testing other than standard QA make, model, etc. After the furnace is installed in the shipyard, acceptance tests shall be prepared to prove hardening performance required in the above table. The tests specimens and the mechanical testing will be provided and conducted by Norfolk Naval Shipyard. Any alternate types of equipment or modifications should be submitted separately. Any crane or forklift service needed by the vendor to off load or position equipment provided shall be supplied by the vendor. Cranes and crane service must conform to Norfolk Naval Shipyard, local, state, and federal requirements. There are no special requirements for forklifts. All other terms of the RFP remain the same.
