L. Westman, Maria.L.Westman.1@gsfc.nasa.gov. THIS NOTICE CONSTITUTES
AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO THE COMBINED SYNOPSIS/RFQ FOR the Vacuum Test
Chamber. Companies shall acknowledge all amendment(s) in their quote.
This notice serves as the official amendment to subject synopsis/RFQ
and a written amendment will not be issued. The purpose of this
amendment is to provide clarification on specifications and to extend
the due date. The Top Hat and Extension portions have to same diameter
as the collar section; the diameter was reduced on the upper portions
of the chamber in order to reduce the overall volume that will need to
be pumped out. It is required that there be an interface between the
Hat and Extension portions of the chamber becuase there is limited
clearance above the chamber. The lengths of the sections were designed
such that they can be removed without significant alteration to the
room where the chamber will be kept. The anticipated duty cycle of the
shrouds is several hours. The payload will typically produce several
watts load when operating (typically less than 20 Watts). The pumping
station is not to be provided by the vendor. Heaters and temperature
sensors are assumed to be an integral part of the shroud system and are
provided by the vendors. The critical thermal control area is located
on the surface of the base plate. The items that are located within
that area will stay within a volume that is only six inches high. The
thermal control volume would fit the given cross sectional area to a
height of six inches (5x6x6). Aluminum is not acceptable as a material
to be used in the chamber. The due date for receipt of offers is
extended to 08/31/98. Companies shall provide the information stated in
the synopsis/RFQ posted on the NASA Acquisition Internet Service (NAIS)
on 07/15/98. The WWW address or URL of the NASA/GSFC Business
