L. Connolly, sconnolly@mail.arc.nasa.gov. THIS NOTICE CONSTITUTES
AMENDMENT NO.1 TO THE COMBINED SYNOPSIS/RFQ FOR CCD IMAGER ELECTRONICS.
Companies shall acknowledge all amendment(s) in their quote. This
notice serves as the official amendment to subject synopsis/RFQ and a
written amendment will not be issued. The purpose of this amendment is
to provide additional information to all interested quoters as a
result of questions submitted: Question: Will the Imager be in an
inside laboratory setting or an outside setting? Answer: The imager
will be used in an astronomical observatory. The observatory dome will
open to the weather every night that it is not rainy or foggy.
Question: What will the ambient temperature be? Answer: The ambient
temperature at night in the summer occasionally gets as high as 26
degrees Centigrade. In the winter, the temperature occasionally gets as
low as -5 degrees Centigrade. Question: Will the Imager require an air
heat exchanger or refrigerant chilled water or coolant? Answer:
Similar imagers need a chilled liquid refrigerant to maintain the CCD
at -35 degrees Centigrade. If the quoter can keep the CCD at -35 C with
an air exchanger, that is also acceptable. However, the system must not
induce significant vibrations into the imager. The due date for receipt
of offers is not extended. Companies shall provide the information
stated in the synopsis/RFQ posted on the NASA Acquisition Internet
Service (NAIS) on August 04, 1998. Documents related to this
procurement are available over the Internet and are in Microsoft Office
