synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with
the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional
information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the
only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written
solicitation will not be issued. The solicitation number is
12QR4-111-98 and is a request for quotations current through Federal
Acquisition Circular 45. This procurement is unrestricted. The Standard
Classification code is 5039 and the small business size standard is
500. The procurement will consist of 2 line items. Item 1 -- Steel
Pilings, steel HP 10x42, 18 ft. length of each unit, 32 units are
needed for a total length of 576 ft. Item 2 (a) -- Timber Lagging --
150mm x 150 mm, 20 ft. length of each unit, 120 units are needed for a
total length of 2400 ft.; 2 (b) -- Timber Lagging -- 200 mm x 200 mm,
20 ft. length of each unit for a total length of 1800 ft. Materials
shall conform to the specification PNF-SPS-641, Steel 641.02 and Timber
641.03. 641.02 Structural Steel Piling -- All structural steel piling
shall conform to the general requirements of AASHTO M 160 (1990), the
structural steel requirements of AASHTO M 183 (1990), and the
composition and manufacturing requirements of section 715.06. All
structural steel piles shall be of the weights, shapes and lengths as
shown on the drawings. All structural steel piling shall be new and
unused. All pilings shall be straight with no warping or bending of the
flanges or webbing. All pilings shall be continuous with no splices,
welded or otherwise. 641.03 Timber -- All timbers shall conform to the
general requirements of AASHTO M 164-84 (1990). The timbers shall
conform to the specifications, design values, and conventions of the
Western Wood Products Association (WWPA) for grading 80.11 (posts and
timbers) No. 1 douglas fir-larch, rough sawn. Timber shall be new and
unused and undamaged with no cuts (other than that required for
preservation treatment), breakage, dents, or other structural distress.
Timbers shall be straight within following limits: Warping along the
major axis: A maximum deflection 25mm per 6.1 meter of length. Twisting
along the major axis: A maximum torsional deflection of five (5)
degrees. All timbers shall be pressure treated with Ammoniacal Copper
Zinc Arsenate (ACZA) preservation in accordance with AASHTO M 133-86
(1990). The maximum preservation retained shall be as required for
douglas fir-larch in contact with soil. Items shall be delivered and
unloaded by the Contractor to the Payette National Forest, Krassel Work
Center stockpile site, FOB Destination. The site is located east of
Warm Lake Hwy. approx. 30 miles to the junction with South Fork of
Salmon River Road. Then north on the SFSR Road for approx. 32 miles.
