410-997-6234 The contract resulting from this solicitation is to
complete design/engineering from 30% complete to 100% complete and to
construct a New Main Post Office facility of approximately 19,987
square feet on a 3.95 acre site. Work includes all retail store,
workroom, loading dock and equipment, support areas, and covered
carrier parking. The design build entity will construct the building
using a steel frame, brick veneer with metal stud backup exterior
walls, concrete slab on grade, built-up roofing and shingled roofing at
permimeter, metal studs and gypsum board interior walls and lay-in
acoustical ceilings. Complete plumbing, HVAC and electrical systems
will include roof top units, power, lighting, and limited fire
protection system as required by local code and USPS requirements. Also
included in the development of the site is parking for customers,
employees, postal vehichles, loading dock maneuvering area, mail drop
box lane, and complete landscaping, fencing and signage. Site
development includes design of storm water detention system and
sanitary sewer main extension. The design build entity will contact
local agencies, apply for and pay all permits (except building permit),
tap connections and utility connections/development fees. As part of
the solicitation, the USPS is furnishing certain preliminary drawings,
surveys and other items to describe the extent to the quality of work
required. The design and construction of the facility will meet or
exceed the level of quality indicated in these documents. As a part of
the work of the contract, the design/build entity will verify that any
design based upon the furnished documents fully complies with the
applicable codes and ordinances. Unique for this project: Design/build
contractor to install sanitary road crossing under Hwy 42 to connect
into county manhole, install manhole within utility easement on
proposed site and connect facility sanitary line to installed manhole.
Also demolish all structures on proposed site. The estimated price
range for this project is between $1,900,000 and $2,300,000 with
completion within 330 calendar days after receipt of the Notice to
Proceed. Packages will be available on or about August 10, 1998, at
$90.00 per set, Non-refundable, referencing Solicitation

disclosed to anyone except those Postal personnel whose official duties
require such information until the award of the contract is made. The
