COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF AUGUST 10,1998 PSA#2155LOGISTICS EXTENDABLE MARK-UP LANGUAGE DEMONSTRATION PROGRAM The Defense
Logistics Agency and the Joint Electronic Commerce Program Office are
soliciting manufacturers and distributors with existing Web based
electronic catalogs to participate in the Logistics eXtendable Mark-up
Language (LXML) demonstration program. The purpose of the program is
to show that logistics information can be effectively and efficiently
accessed for use in Department of Defense Logistics systems based on
XML technology. Specifically, the program will show how XML tagged
catalogs can identify potential sources of supply to use in item
management, war readiness planning and procurement. Manufactures and
distributors will be eligible to participate in the program based on
the following criteria: the items in the catalog are of interest to the
Department of Defense; the companies have an existing World Wide Web
enabled electronic catalog with items that can be purchased on line;
the companies are willing to use the following DTD and tag some or all
of the items in the catalog with the appropriate XML tags; the XML
tagged items will be made accessible to the DLA/JECPO development
system; the company is willing to enter into a Basic Purchase Agreement
(BPA) with DLA. Companies interested in participating in this
