J -- NATIONAL WEATHER RADIO TRANSMITTER MAINTENANCE SOL 52RANW900003 DUE 092298 POC Procurement Technicians -- (303)497-3657 The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration intends to contract for maintenance of National Weather Radio transmitters which are located on property controlled by the Alabama Public Television Commission (the Commission). The Commission restricts access to the sites and, due to the requirement that seven-day, 24-hour maintenance be available, no other provider is known. The transmitters are located in the vicinity of the following cities: Anniston, Birmingham, Demopolis, Florence, Huntsville, Louisville, Montgomery, Tuscaloosa, and Dozier. Synopsis published for informational purposes only; solicitation is not available; no telephone requests accepted. Only qualification statements faxed to 303.497.3163 will be considered at this time. Written responses must be received within 15 days from the date of this notice and must include full maintenance descriptions, staff qualifications, terms and conditions, as well as demonstrate that the respondent can access and maintain the transmitters which are located at towers owned by the Commission. If the respondent proposes to move the transmitters to alternative sites in order to maintain them, full details (cost, site location, proof that coverage will not be degraded, and any other information to demonstrate competence must be included). All responses from responsible sources will be fully considered. The Government will not respond to incomplete qualification statements. As a result of analyzing responses to this synopsis of intent, the Contracting Officer may determine that a solicitation will be issued. In the absence of other qualified sources, it is the intent of the Government to negotiate a sole source contract under the authority of 41 USC 253(c)(1) with the Bureau. See Numbered Note 22.
