COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF AUGUST 10,1998 PSA#2155USDA, Forest Service, 1755 Cleveland Hwy., Gainesville, GA 30501 46 -- CONTINUOUS DISINFECTION SYSTEM FOR HAND PUMP WELLS DUE 083198
POC Forest Facilities Engineer Steven Ray, (770) 536-0541. The
Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest is seeking sources for continuous
disinfection systems suitable for use on hand pump wells serving as
small public water systems. Treatment systems must be certified for use
with potable water, comply with the Safe Drinking Water Act and other
applicable federal regulations, and comply with State of Georgia
drinking water regulations. Disinfection using chlorine is the
preferred method. Treatment systems must operate without commercial
power; systems requiring no electrical power source at all are
preferred A system which operates solely on the hydraulic pressure
provided by pumping the handle of the hand pump is most preferable. The
system must be capable of maintaining a constant disinfection residual
in the treated water without regular adjustment. During use, a hand
pump typically has intermittent flows of up to three gallons per
minute. Required disinfection contact time can be provided separately
from the treatment system by a small closed storage tank installed in
the piping system. Submit information to USDA Forest Service; Attention
