The US Army ARDEC is seeking improvements in mounting the MK19 Grenade Machinegun, M2 Machinegun, Objective Crew Served Weapon, and M240B Machinegun for vehicle applications. The HMMWV variants and M113 are the required vehicle platforms, although other vehicle applications may be investigated in the future for mounting these weapons. Specific Technologies and characteristics sought include: integral traverse & elevation mechanism design which allows the operator to quickly unlock the weapon for bold adjustments; improved shock isolation and durability; slaved accessory platform which stays boresighted to the weapon, allowing for future fire control integration; low operational support cost (modular design, no special tools, easily repairable); digital readout indicators for elevation, depression, azimuth,and direction; reduced dispersion and improved accuracy; quick release travel lock; ammunition storage/ catch bag; and alternative materials (high strength,low cost, corrosion resistant, lightweight).
