The services covered in this solicitation are the furnishing of all labor, equipment, supervision, transportation, lodging, operating materials, and incidentals necessary to complete seeding, fertilizing, and mulching of 450 slurry units (four slurry units per acre) for designated areas on Prince of Wales Island in Southeast Alaska. Water sources will be from various streams, designated by the Contracting Officer's Representative, in the project area. Designated areas will consist of roadway cutbanks, fill slopes, borrow pits, waste areas, and slide areas. No work will be required farther than 400 feet horizontally from the road centerline. All exposed soils shall be treated. Designated roads are in steep, mountainous terrain and have grades up to 20 percent. The project is located on various roads on Prince of Wales Island. Access to the project site is by air or water from Ketchikan, Alaska, or by road from Hollis, Alaska. Hollis may be accessed by the Alaska Marine Highway system. Private air taxi and barge service is also available to numerous communities on Prince of Wales Island. All work is to be completed by August 1, 1999. This project is 100% Small Business set-aside.
