R -- CONTINUING SURVEY OF FOOD INTAKE BY INDIVIDUALS (CSFII)1999-2001 POC Lenear Bassett-King, Contract Specialist, or Alvenia K. Pitts, Contracting Officer, at 301-504-1699 USDA, Agricultural Research Service intends to award on a sole source basis with Westat, Inc., Additional Research Survey Data Collections in Support of the Continuing Survey of Food Intakes by Individuals (CSFII) 1999-2002, for an Expanded Sample of Low Income Individuals. The Objective of the Survey Is to Measure Types/Amounts of Food in Nutrients Consumed by Individuals in the U.S. and the Status of Their Knowledge regarding Diet and Health Relationships. The Contractor Is to Develop the Survey Operations Plan; Conduct Research to Develop and Test New Methodology for Collecting High-Quality Food Intake Data and for a Telephone Mode of Data Collection; and Utilize a Computer-assisted Interview System for Collection of the Data. The Contractor Is to Design National Probability Samples; Train Interviewers; and Conduct Surveys to Collect Household Social Demographic and Food Intake Data Using the New Methods and Computer-assisted Interview System. The Data Collected for the Expanded Sample Are to Be Combined with Data to Be Collected under the Current Contract, 53-3K06-7-12, to Provide for a Larger Sample of Individuals from Low Income Households.
