COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF AUGUST 4,1998 PSA#2151Patent and Trademark Office, Office of Procurement, Box 6, Washington,
DC 20231 D -- MANAGEMENT AND SOFTWARE SUPPORT SOL 52-PAPT-8-10004 DUE 080498
POC Henrietta V. Brox 703-305-8016 The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
(PTO) is seeking vendors to provide management and software support for
Hewlett Packard (HP) UNIX based operating- systems software. The vendor
will provide 24-hour/7-day software support via its software help desk.
In addition, the vendor must provide PTO with HP/UX user privileges to
contractor handles if not the handles themselves for all systems under
service agreement. The identified PTO user groups shall have the option
of either calling the vendors help desk or HP directly. The vendor
should have experience in both the management and support of HP/UX
hardware and software maintenance. Further, the vendor must demonstrate
its ability to respond quickly and effectively in discharging its
responsibilities. Causes of HP/UX failures are often hard to pinpoint;
consequently, hardware malfunctions or software faults (or both) may
be responsible. Due to this pinpointing difficulty, the vendor must
have successfully provided Hp/UX software management and support within
the PTO environment. In addition, the vendor shall provide at a minimum
the following services: interface on-site with PTO personnel to
accurately determine all software products that have been purchased
and/or loaded; maintain an ongoing inventory of all software products
and patches loaded; notify PTO (within 48 hours) of all software
updates and patches received from HP; hold all updates and patches
until requested by PTO and respond quickly to the request within 48
hours; provide monthly reports of software updates and patches
(installed and available); forward all manuals and manual updates;
provide an early warning of all software service alerts posted by HP;
and provide consulting services on hardware, software upgrades, add-ons
and all proposed hardware and software moves. The vendor shall possess
the following expert skills and knowledge (but not limited to): HP-UX
700 Series (all levels); HP-UX 800 Series (all levels); HP-UX Versions
10.2 and later; HP Servers (include but not limited to "K", "T" and "V"
series), network integration, system integration (HP and Non-HP
hardware); software management; telecommunications (interconnectivity);
HP Pre Sales/ Technical Certification; training of personnel;
preparation of training materials and other documentation; and customer
service skills. This action is a RFQ and FAR 13 will be utilized. To
receive a copy of the SOW and the inventory responsible sources may
contact Henrietta V. Brox @ 703-305-8016 or by fax @ 703-305-8294. This
request must be submitted NLT 8/4/98. Numbered Notes: 1. Posted
