The Smithsonian Institution -- Astrophysical Observatory solicits the lease of a 3000 gallon bulk storage vessel for liquid nitrogen and the purchase of an estimated 5800 liters of liquid nitrogen per month. The bulk storage system shall be installed not-later-than 12 weeks after contract award. Earlier installation is desired. Contract performance period will commence after installation of the bulk storage vessel. Installation of the bulk storage vessel and delivery of the liquid nitrogen will be at the ridge (approximately 7,500 ft. elevation) on Mt. Hopkins, Amado, Arizona. The transport truck will have to travel on an unpaved mountain road that is single lane in multiple sections. This requirement is for a base year and four (4) one year options. A mandatory site visit is required. The award of a Requirements Type Contract is anticipated. Offers will be evaluated on total price for the base requirement plus the four options, past performance, and proposed installation date of the bulk storage vessel. This solicitation is unrestricted.
