The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Physics Laboratory intends to purchase, on a sole-source basis under the authority of 41 USC 253(c)(1), a Verdi 5 Watt Laser System from Coherent, Inc., 5100 Patrick Henry Drive, PO Box 54980, Santa Clara, CA 95056. To the best of the Government's knowledge Coherent, Inc. is the sole manufacturer and distributor of this equipment. This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; a quotation is being requested from Coherent, Inc. and a written solicitation will not be issued. This solicitation number 53SBNB860120 is issued as a request for quotation (RFQ) using simplified acquisition procedures. The SIC Code applicable to this acquisition is 3826 and the related size standard is 500 employees, however, this requirement is unrestricted. Incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 97-04. The Contract Line Item Numbers (CLINs), Items, and Quantities are as follows: CLIN 0001; Verdi 5 Watt Laser; 1 each. The technical requirements of the system are as follows: 1) POWER: 5 Watts; 2) WAVELENGTH: 532 nm; 3) LINEWIDTH: Less than 5 MHz; 4) NOISE: Less than 0.02%; 5) TEM00 MODE; and 6) 110V OPERATION. Coherent, Inc. shall deliver and install CLIN 0001, FOB Destination, Gaithersburg, MD, no later than two (2) weeks after purchase order award.
