already stated, this work requires a broad background in human factors,
experimental psychology, circadian physiology, and maritime/Coast Guard
operations, with specific expertise in the following nine areas: root
cause in accident investigation; user interface and procedure analysis
and design; training/testing system design; individual and team
performance; ergonomics of ship design and operation; occupational
health and safety; organizational design; fatigue and alertness
management; risk assessment and management. Task efforts may include
the collection and analysis of field data to characterize human
performance and to identify safety risks on board commercial maritime
and Coast Guard vessels, in shoreside facilities, and in crew
operations. Other efforts may include the design and/or test and
evaluation of training and testing protocols, operational procedures,
