SOL 98-003 DUE 100198 POC Not Applicable Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), operated by the University of California under contract with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), is seeking one or more industrial partners to commercialize the PEREGRINE(tm) Dose Calculation System. PEREGRINE(tm) combines Monte Carlo radiation transport techniques, an integrated hardware/software system architecture, and comprehensive nuclear and atomic databases to produce accurate three-dimensional dose calculations for photon teletherapy. LLNL's objectives in commercializing PEREGRINE(tm) include, but are not limited to, ensuring: 1) ubiquitous, rapid distribution of PEREGRINE(tm) to radiation therapy clinics; and 2) support for continuing LLNL R&D to maintain and enhance PEREGRINE(tm). Mechanisms for transferring PEREGRINE(tm) to industry could include: 1) a License to the PEREGRINE(tm) technology; 2) a funds-in Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA), which will offer the participating company(ies) an opportunity to license technologies developed under the CRADA; and 3) other contractual instruments to facilitate transfer of PEREGRINE(tm) to industry or for other specific tasks. Companies interested in commercializing PEREGRINE(tm) should provide a written statement of interest that must include: 1) a description of corporate capability and experience relevant to medical device commercialization, radiation treatment planning, product field support and other relevant attributes; and 2) a detailed plan for commercializing PEREGRINE(tm) that demonstrates how LLNL's objectives, stated above, will be met.
