This notice is a modification to the notice that appeared in the April 10, 1996 edition of the Commerce Business Daily. The project listed below was previously identified as DACW33-96-B-0026. All firms that requested plans and specifications under the previous solicitation number will receive the revised solicitation. Only firms requesting plans and specifications for the first time should forward payment with their request. The work of this project consists of removing the Quincy Reservoir Dam earthen embankment, portions of the dam concrete rubble core wall, and the existing concrete outlet works. Prior to removal of the existing dam, the work includes draining the reservoir, preparation of the of the reservoir area for stockpiling of materials, diversion of water, and construction of haul routes. The new work consists of reconstructing the earthen dam embankment, a dike, and constructing new outlet works and spillway structure. The dam reconstruction consists of about 110,000 CY of fill material, much of which is reuse from the existing dam. The work includes rock excavation, rock anchors, pressure grouting of grout curtains in fractured rock, and hand preparation of foundation bedrock surfaces. The concrete work consists f about 2,300 CY of reinforced concrete. Outlet works will include approximately 3,000 LF of 3' by 5' precast concrete box conduit. Related work includes erosion control, an access road, a precast concrete bridge over the spillway, construction of a granite block wall using onsite stone, and restoration of areas disturbed during construction. The work will be phased construction with critical schedule milestones due to flood hazard risk. The estimated cost range is between $10,000,000.00 and $25,000,000.00. Work shall be completed within 720 calendar days after receipt of a notice to proceed. Plans and Specifications will be available on or about 8/10/98 at a cost of $30.00 per set. All responsible sources may submit a bid which will be considered by the New England District. Again, firms that have requested this solicitation under number DACW33-96-B-0026 will automatically receive the solicitation identified as DACW33-98-B-0020 and do not have to forward any additional payment for plans and specifications.
