Care Addition, VA Medical Center, Asheville, NC -- This project
provides a new 3-story addition to the Medical Center and an addition
to the mechanical plant. It also includes demolition and renovation
work in the existing hospital building, primarily located on the first
floor. The work includes ambulatory care clinics, along with
laboratories, emergency services and surgery and some other functions.
Renovation within the hospital will expand ancillary hospital services
and clinics and some other functions. Construction will include
relocation of existing and provision of new site utilities, parking and
roadways, and site work, new roads, demolition, general construction,
new partitions and interior finishes, plumbing, electrical, mechanical
systems, elevators, fire alarm and sprinkler systems, and certain
other items. Some asbestos abatement work will be necessary during the
construction. -- Cost Range: Between $10 and $20 million. Bid
