E-MAIL: Diane Jester, Diana.W.Jester.1@gsfc.nasa.gov. NASA/GSFC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for Item 1. 8 each of a Azimuth Brake Assembly, Part Number 1-087-731-01-016. Item 2 8 each of a Elevation Brake Assembly, Part Number 1-087-741-01-015. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from American Bearing & Power Transmission Company, 2303 Alabama Ave., Norfolk, VA 23513. The brake assemblies in this procurement must be identical to those provided with the 11-meter antenna system manufactured under NAS5-32199. The proposed assemblies are manufactured by American Bearing and Power Transmission and as such must be electrically, mechanically, and functionally interchangeable with the brake assemblies originally supplied with the 11-meter antenna systems. To purchase these from another vendor would result in significant system downtime for any modifications necessary to accomodate another vendors brake assemblies. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested firms have 15 days from the publication of this synopsis to submit in writing to the identified point of contact, their qualifications/capabilities. Such qualifications/capabilities will be used solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. Responses received after the 15 days or without the required information will be considered nonresponsive to the synopsis and will not be considered. A determination by the Government to not compete this proposed effort on a full and open competitive basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
