The appropriate SIC Code is 1542. Work includes but is not limited to the complete renovation of the old portion of Building 729, a two story brick building consisting of approximately 38,000 gross square feet. Project will require total demolition of most of the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems and re-building those systems to meet the requirements of the new facility layout. Most of the interior walls and finishes will also be demolished and reconfigured. New finishes, fixtures, solid framed and demountable walls, and associated mechanical and electrical systems will be incorporated throughout the facility. The project includes moving the building occupants to another facility on the base and moving them back at the completion of the project. The newer Annex portion of the facility, which is attached, will remain occupied during construction and will need to be protected. Both the Annex and older portion of the building are to be connected through both mechanical and electrical systems as well as matching finsihes. Additonal landscaping will be required. The period of performance is 365 calendar days to include material approval, acquisiton, transportation and installation. The contract will be firm fixed price. The estimated cost of construction is between $1,000,000.00 and $5,000,000.00. The solicitation will be issued on or about 17 Aug 98 with bids due on or about 17 Sep 98. The procurement is unrestricted in accordance with the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstation Program.
