The existing Post Office is approximately 10,000 sq. ft. The work will be accomplished in three phases, roughly divided into work in the adjacent building (expansion space), move-in to the expansion space and work in the existing Post Office, and work to open up the dividing wall between the two areas. The Post Office will maintain operations in the existing Post Office or in the expansion space throughout the period of work. The contractor shall cooperate with the Post Office to comply with United States Postal Service security requirements. The existing Post Office is a single story masonry-wall building with cast-concrete and bar joist roof and a basement. The Post Office is in use and will remain in use until the completion of Phase I and move-in. The Expansion Space is an existing single story masonry-wall building with steel truss and metal deck roof or wood frame roof. The floor systems consistof: structural slab over a partial basement, wood frame floor with concrete overlay over a crawl space and concrete slab-on-grade. There is an elevated mechanical room on bar joist construction. Significant parts of interior demolition, including interior non-load-bearing partitions, interior finishes and ductwork have been accomplished. Asbestos abatement has been completed in this building. There will be a single prime contract. Demolition includes, but is not limited to: site demolition, including a loading dock and ramps, selective interior demolition, selective demolition of interior and exterior load-bearing walls with temporary shoring and partial roof demolition. Site work includes, but is not limited to: earthwork, bituminous and cement concrete pavement, chain link fences and gates. Concrete work includes, but is not limited to: cast-in-place concrete footings and foundations, floor slabs on existing concrete, on insulation fill, on steel structure, and cast-in-place concrete ramps, stairs, and loading dock. Masonry work includes, but is not limited to: face brick, concrete unit masonry infill, patching of existing concrete unit masonry walls, and patching of structural facing tile walls. Metals include, but are not limited to: structural steel, bar joists, metal deck, cold-formed steel framing and metal railing. Thermal and moisture protection includes, but is not limited to: building insulation, metal roof panel work, new single ply membrane roof work, single ply membrane roof repair, sheet metal flashing and trim, and sealants. Door and window work includes, but is not limited to: metal doors and frames, wood doors, folding security grilles, impact traffic doors, storefront entrances, structural sealant aluminum curtain wall with clear grazing, spandrel glazing, and metal infill panels, and door hardware. Finishes include, but are not limited to: metal stud and gypsum wallboard interior partitions, tile, resilient flooring, carpet, acoustical ceilings and painting. Specialties include, but are not limited to: visual display boards, metal toilet compartments, louvers and vents, wall and corner guards, flagpoles, exterior and interior signage, lockers, fire protection specialties, toilet accessories and postal parcel lockers and boxes, manufactured canopies. Equipment includes but is not limited to: scissors type dock lifts and loading dock equipment. Furnishings include, but are not limited to: poster frames, floor mats, postal casework, and furniture.
