The Navy requires 34 each Liquid Crystal Display Unit Assemblies and one repair parts kit in accordance with SSP drawing number 53711-7056318. The drawing document establishes the requirements for a 16 inch diagonal 1280 by 1024 pixel resolution active matrix color Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) with supporting electronics contained in an enclosure. The assembly shall be capable of accepting RGB video signals with separate vertical and horizontal sync signals. Two first article LCD's are required by 10 November 1998. One first article LCD shall be delivered FOB General Dynamics Defense Systems (GDDS) Pittsfield, MA and one FOB NSWC Crane, IN. Delivery of the production units shall be FOB GDDS Pittsfield, MA at the rate five each per month beginning 20 February 1999. Final inspection and acceptance shall be at GDDS Pittsfield, MA. These items will be procured on a sole-source basis from Eaton Corporation, Danbury, CT in accordance with FAR 6.302-1. These items have undergone extensive performance and systems compatibility testing for use in the MK 98 Fire Control System. As a result of the unique design specifications, no other vendor's components can be substituted without the Government incurring substantial costs to have the complete system redesigned.
