962-6-5679143 The Water Authority of Jordan (WAJ) of the Ministry of
Water and Irrigation is soliciting Expressions of Interest and
submission of prequalification data from construction contractors. As
a result of this questionnaire, the prequalified U.S. Contractors will
be invited to bid on the Kafrein water supply project as outlined in
the prequalification questionnaire. The U.S. Contractors may
subcontract with a Jordanian first grade electro-mechanical or a
Jordanian first grade water-sewage construction firm. Jordanian
contractors classified as first grade in the field of
electro-mechanical may serve as prime contractors (i.e. main
contractors). USAID will partially finance the construction of this
activity under grant agreement no. 278-0288. Project description: the
project consists of the supply, delivery, construction and
recommissioning of well equipment. Well collector pipelines, and water
treatment plant. With specific components of the project consisting
of: installation of well pumping equipment (pumps, motors, etc.) In 3
existing artesian Kafrein wells (nos. 4A, 11 and 12) (well and casings
previously installed by the employer). Approximately 5,200m of ductile
iron pipe well collector pipelines ranging in size from 150mm to 600mm
diameter with air release valves, gate valves, flow control valves,
flow meters and other items. Construction of a reinforced concrete
pressure break control tank with pumping control instruments, etc.
Construction of a 255 m3/hr (1.62 Mgd) water treatment plant consisting
of two parallel treatment trains consisting of aerators,
flocculator/clarifier tanks, and filter units; with chemical addition;
chlorine disinfection; electrical and instrumentation system;
operations control building; site work, grading, paving, gabion walls,
fencing, and other specified items. Construction of a 2,000 m3
reinforced concrete treated water storage reservoir. Approximately 323m
of 300mm ductile iron pipeline between the reservoir and the existing
distribution system. Telemetry system between thewell pumps, pressure
break control tank, wtp operations control room, rate of flow control
valve and the treated water reservoir. Potential U.S. Construction
