Major work items are hull repair and preservation, and structural/mechanical inspections and repairs. An Agreement for Boat Repair (ABR) and a drydock/marine railway are required. Special skills/qualifications include certified welders, NDT personnel, and gas free engineer. Planned contract award date is 28 Aug 98. The tug is physically located at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, NH. Place of performance is restricted to a 120 mile radius of Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. IMPORTANT NOTE: Prior to submitting a proposal, prospective offerors are strongly encouraged to go to Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for a site visit. Site visits can be arranged by calling Captain C. T. Knowles at 1(207) 438-1103 or 1(207) 438-1100. A two day advance notice is required. Offerors shall call James Dufault, at 1(207) 442-3005, to notify the Government of their intent to view the tug. Towing the tug from Portsmouth Naval Shipyard to the successful offeror's facilities and return shall be at the Government's expense and need not be included in the proposal. Further, a new Government regulation dated 1 Jun 98 states that to be eligible for award of any Government contract you MUST be registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) prior to award.
