COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JULY 10,1998 PSA#2134Acquisitions Management Operations Branch, NIAID, 6003 Executive Blvd,
Solar Building, Room 1C38, Contracts Section, Bethesda, MD 20892-7605 R -- MANUFACTURE OF SYNTHETIC PEPTIDES SOL NIAID-DIR-98-56 DUE 083198
POC Ivan Hernandez, 301-496-3878, Karin E.Eddy, Contracting Officer,
301-496-3878 The Contractor will provide the Government with the
following: 1. Provide the NIH-NIAID with synthetic peptides and
peptide-carrier protein conjugates in accordance with requested
quantity and quality, and within specific time periods. Contractor will
provide the Government with 250 to 300 synthetic peptides per year in
4 ranges of purity, as determined by an analytical HPLC analysis:
Unpurified; over 75% purity; Over 85% purity; OVER 95% purity. Peptides
shall be delivered according to specified amounts that will fall into
6 ranges: 5-15mg; 16-30mg; 31-50mg: 51-100mg; 101-150mg; 151-200mg.
Some of the ordered synthetic peptides will require a chemical
modification of the peptide molecules, that would typically involve the
following: Amidation at C-Terminal; Acetylation at N-Terminal;
Biotinylation of the N-Terminal; Incorporation of the phosphorylated
Amino Acids, such as Phospho-Tyrosine, phospho-Serine and
phospho-Threonine. Based on NIAID experience it is anticipated that a
number of requests for structurally modified peptides would be in a
10-15% of all requests, with majority of these requests invoving
amidation at C-terminal and acetylation at N-Terminal. 2. Contractor
will also provide the Government with peptide/carrier protein
conjugates, obtained by coupling the synthetic peptide to the carrier
proteins such as Keyhole Lympet Hemocyanin (KLH), Bovine Serum Albumin
(BSA), or other proteins typically used for production of
bioconjugates. Typically, a part of the ordered synthetic peptide will
have to be coupled to the carrier protein, with the excess of peptide
shipped in the free form. In each case the synthetic peptide, carrier
protein, amounts needed, and a method of conjugation and/or the
conjugating reagent will be specified in the order. All prices quoted
for goods delivered to Government sites must include shipping charges.
The Contractor shall develop a pricing schedule that will encompass
all proposed ranges of synthetic peptide purities, requested amounts,
and sequence lengths. It is anticipated that one award will be made for
one base year plus four (4) additional one-year options. RFP 98-56,
will be available on or about July 29, 1998, with an estimated closing
date of August 31, 1998. This requirement is classified as a 100%
competitive set-aside for small business concerns (see Note 1). Copies
of RFP 98-56 may be obtained by written requests to Ivan Hernandez at
the address listed above. Posted 07/08/98. (0189) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0102 19980710\R-0017.SOL)
