IS NOT A SYNOPSIS TO ADVERTISE A SOLICITATION THAT IS READY FOR
RELEASE; rather the purposes are (a) to determine whether there are a
sufficient number of responsible sources who can meet a forthcoming
competitive United States Coast Guard (USCG) requirement for
recreational boat factory visits (RBFV) and (b) to conduct market
research to ascertain whether the (RBFV) may be solicited pursuant to
Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 6.1 "Full and Open
Competition.". The RBFV requirement will require the Contractor to
annually visit one third of the approximately 4,000 recreational boat
manufacturers in the United States. The sources sought shall have an
in-depth knowledge of all safety standards and regulations affecting
the manufacture of recreational boats in the United States, and a
demonstrated ability to convey this knowledge in clear and concise
terms to manufacturing personnel. POTENTIAL OFFERORS WHO BELIEVE THAT
THEY MAY BE INTERESTED IN RESPONDING TO THE AFOREMENTIONED COMPETITIVE
RBFV REQUIREMENT (WHEN RELEASED) ARE REQUESTED (BUT NOT REQUIRED) TO
RESPOND BY 15 AUGUST 1998, IN WRITING BY MAIL, TO LTJG MARC THIBAULT AT
THE ADDRESS ABOVE. NOTE: PROPOSALS ARE NOT SOLICITED AT THIS TIME FOR
THE AFOREMENTIONED RBFV REQUIREMENT, AND NO CONTRACT AWARD WILL BE MADE
