Mathews (757)445-6567 Aerobics Instructor, Nationally Certified to
teach specified classes for the Naval Station, Norfolk, Va. Recreation
Department. The aerobics instructor shall hold a current CPR
Certification. The Naval Station Norfolk Recreation Department will
accept the following National Aerobics Certifications: American Council
on Exercise(ACE), American Aerobic and Fitness Association (AAFA),
National Dance Education Instructor Training Association (NDEITA),
American College of Sports and Medicine (ACSM), Cooper Institute for
Aerobic Research (CIAR), and Exer-Safe. Requirements: Aerobics
Instructor will teach Hi/Lo Impact Aerobics Classes. Definition of
Hi/Lo Aerobics shall be an Aerobics Class that incorporates both High
and Low Impact Aerobics Moves. Low Impact Aerobics moves require that
one foot maintain contact with the floor. Low Impact alternatives will
be shown for all High Impact moves. The intensity of the class will be
sufficient to maintain an adequate intensity level for individuals of
intermediate fitness levels. The instructor will monitor heart rate by
using the 10 second count heart rate. Aerobic intensity levels will
elevate heart rates to training zones to insure a cardiovascular
benefit. Instructors will educate participants on staying within their
target heart rate zones. Training will include options to increase or
decrease intensity levels. 10 second count pulse rates will be taken
at least 2 times during class. The first pulse check shall begin 5-10
minutes into the cardiovascular conditioning segment of the class and
a second count will be taken after the cardio-cool down to insure that
10 second count pulse rates are below 20 beats before floor
work/strength training begins. additional pulse checks are allowed.
instructors will be required for the following classes: Tuesday,
Thursday 6:00 am to 7:00 am N-24 Gym Monday through Friday 11:00 am to
12:00 Noon N-24 Gym Monday through Friday 12:00 Noon to 1:00 Pm N-24
Gym Monday Wednesday Friday 6:00 am to 7:00am CEP-58 Gym Monday through
Friday11:30 am to 12:30 pm CEP-58 Gym Tuesday, Thursday 4:30 PM to 6:30
Pm N-24 Gym Instructors will be on site 10 Minutes prior to class and
class will begin at the designated time. Instructors will be available
after class to answer questions from participants. Proper aerobics
attire shall be worn by aerobics instructors while teaching on the
Naval Station, Norfolk. Proper attire will include leotards and throng
Leotards over tights, t-shirts, tank tops, shorts and cycling style
shorts. Overly provocative aerobics gear may not be worn by the
instructor. The determination of questionable attire will be up to the
discretion of the Naval Station Recreation Department. Classes will
not be offered on Government Holidays Format of Class: 60 Minute class
Rhythmic warmup, static stretching, cardio warm-up, cardiovascular
conditioning, cardio cool down, strength training/floorwork/cooldown
