Littrell, Contract Specialist, 812-854-1947, Mr. Greg Smith, Contract Specialist, 812-854-3698 The Crane Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center is seeking prospective sources for the following: Radian, Inc., 5845 Richmond Highway, Alexandria, VA 22303 has been chartered to evaluate commercial-off-the-shelf technology and select an integrated Access Control System/Intrusion Detection System (ACS/IDS) to be installed in a large Government, multi-site complex in Northern Virginia. The system is initially to be used for ACS and will be capable of handling approximately 20,000 different cardholders per day, but will evolve into the IDS arena as the phased building construction program nears completion. There are stringent performance and functional specifications associated with the system. Additionally, since the federal agency involved (DOD) envisions moving more towards NT solutions to its future information technology requirements, the Radian evaluation will focus on NT based or NT hybrid systems that are both user friendly and extremely robust. The customer is adamant the software selected must be "Open System Architecture" and the manufacturer must be willing and capable of integrating with other currently installed and future systems/subsystems for this complex. These systems/subsystems will be identified to the extend possible in the systems specifications package. Factors such as growth capability and sustainment of the manufacturer's product will be important aspects of system evaluation. Radian plans to test and evaluate each system meeting the specifications and report the outcome of these tests to the customer. Test and evaluation may be accomplished at the manufacturer's facility, an operational location or at Radian's test bed. Final determination on test location(s) will be made following the initial screening of industry response.
