CECOM Acquisition Center -- Washington intends to acquire for the Army, other DOD components, and other federal agencies commercial personal computers, related peripherals, and office automation software items. The requirements include low and high end desktop systems, operating systems, hard disk drives, color monitors, flat screen color monitors and a five year warranty and other related items. A draft Specification is anticipated to be released on 21 July 1998; no award will be made from this draft Specification. Comments related to this draft Specification are due 4 August 1998. Comments must be submitted to the CECOM ACW Q&A Web site (128.190.157.111). A final RFP will be released on or about 4 September 1998. The final RFP is being released as a follow on to the Army's Personal Computer-2 contract. It is anticipated that two awards with 24 month ordering periods and a 12 month optional ordering period will result from the final RFP.
