ENGINES. SOL 9.N/A!! DUE 083198 POC Mr. David Gomes (860) 441-2875 The
USCG Research & Development Center (RD&C), Groton, CT, Marine Systems
& Environmental Technology Division is seeking information/literature
of speed pilot technology for marine diesel engines. The Coast Guard
would like to test and evaluate stated devices for possible
implementation on CG Cutters. The speed pilot system should be able to
control engine RPM and pitch separately and independently to minimize
fuel consumption at a constant ship speed. The system must be able to
be used in both single and dual shaft modes. It is requested that
vendors send only information (e.g. brochures) describing available
off-the-shelf systems. After evaluation of the applicable information,
the CG could procure one or possibly two units utilizing open
competition for hands-on testing and evaluation of the existing
technology. It is estimated that this procurement could take place in
FY99, again to make it clear, any subsequent procurement will be open
competition. Please do not call, e-mail or write anyone at the RD&C,
about this Sources Sought Announcement. Information/literature will be
accepted until the end of AUG 98. Send all information to Contracting
