44 -- COMPLETE WINDBOX ASSEMBLY FOR (1) ONE BOILER AND BURNER MANAGEMENT SYSTEM PANEL FOR TWO (2) BOILERS. SOL 544-050-98 DUE 072898 POC Contract Specialist, Virgil Thompson, (803) 695-6783 The government intends to procure (1) one complete windbox assembly for Boiler No. 1. and burner management system panel for Boilers No. 1 and No. 4 from Peabody Engineering Corporation for its Phase II of the Boiler Plant Emergency Repairs. This equipment must be purchased from Peabody Engineering Corporation to ensure that the equipment is compatible with equipment that was installed in Phase I Emergency Boiler Repairs. The windbox and burner management are integral parts of the complete Peabody burner package. The operation of the system requires the components to work together and as this is an add on to existing equipment, the same manufacturer is required to ensure proper function of the complete system. Phase II of the emergency repairs includes the purchase of one central controller for all boilers and it is essential that communication and controls work the same for all boilers. Burner packages need to respond in an identical manner to the controller for proper control and sequencing of the system. The government intends to procure these items under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253 (c)(1) as implemented by FAR 6.302-1 and under an approved justification and approval. Firms that believe they can provide the required items are encouraged to identify themselves. No solicitation is available. All responsible sources may submit a proposal which may be considered by the Government in determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
