(617) 495-7445, FAX (617) 495-7485 The Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory requires the fabrication and delivery of a Fiber Feed Mount in a spectrograph at the Multiple Mirror Telescope. The mount includes an optical fiber support housing approximately 30 by 34 inches across between 0.4 and 1.8 inches thick made from two 1.0 inch thick steel plates bolted together. The support structure is 18 inches square at the base by 36 inches high and bolted and pinned together using 0.25 to 0.75 inch thick steel plates. The majority of the components are 410 or 416 stainless steel although some parts are Invar. A few precision alignment surfaces require +/-0.001 inch dimensional tolerances. The completed mount weighs approximately 430 lbs. This solicitation is 100% set aside for small business.
