Nowicki, Contracting Specialist (412-892-6427) Presolicitation notice that the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Pittsburgh Research Laboratory has a requirement for the construction of Two(2) hydrostatic test chambers in the NIOSH Lake Lynn Laboratory located in Fairchance, PA. The work consists of blasting two (2) rooms in the existing limestone mine. One room shall be 15 feet high and 30 feet wide by 25 feet deep(4.6m x 9.1m x 7.6m). The other room shall be 8 feet high by 20 feet wide by 25 feet deep (2.4m x 6.1m x 7.6m). A reinforced concrete floor (1 foot(.3m)thick)shall be poured and piping installed in accordance with Government specifications. Other work includes installation of waterproofing to the interior chamber walls and the installation of 12 x 12 H-beams with 1-3/4 inch (4.45cm)x 4feet (1.22m)anchor bolts (133 required). Approximately 11,000 sq.ft. (1,201 sq.m.) of surrounding roof shall be roof bolted and meshed. A Pennsylvania state certified mine foreman for industrial mining is required. The estimated price range is $100,000 -- $250,000. The solicitation will be published in the Commerce Business Daily on or about July 6, 1998 and is open to all bidders under the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program with a tentative issue date of July 22, 1998. Requests for Solicitation 254-98-0011 entitled "Hydrostatic Test Chambers Lake Lynn Laboratory" should be submitted to this office by July 22, 1998. The closing date will be thirty days after date of issue with an estimated contract performance period of ninety (90) days.
