It is the intent of the National Library of Medicine (NLM) to procure assistance in: (1) modifying and authenticating as CONSER records approximately 100-215 OCLC WorldCat records for serials using data from NLM's online database; (2) modifying approximately 250-385 CONSER records in the OCLC WorldCat using data from NLM's online database; (3) modifying approximately 200-360 OCLC WorldCat records for serials to add linking and other data; (4) updating approximately 150-400 OCLC WorldCat records for serials by adding or changing indexing coverage notes; and (5) modifying approximately 400-825 OCLC authority file records. Substantial experience in editing bibliographic and authority records in the OCLC system is required, as well as thorough knowledge of the USMARC format as documented in the USMARC Format for Bibliographic Data, 1994 edition and the USMARC Format for Authority Data, 1993 edition and their most recent updates. Knowledge of the CONSER requirements for USMARC coding of serials is required.Request for Quotations (RFQ) Number NLM 98-071/UHP will be issued on or about July 14, 1998.
