FISC Norfolk Detachment Philadelphia intends to acquire, on the behalf of the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center San Diego, Philadelphia Detachment, ruggedized RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Discs) assemblies on a sole source basis from CIPRICO, Inc. of Bedford, NH. The RAIDS will be used to support the Tomahawk system. The RAIDs to be acquired are of two types, 9 GB and 18 GB, CIPRICO part numbers SP6912RUG and ADXRG10RDX26XX, respectively. It is intended to place an indefinite delivery indefinite quantity contract with fixed unit prices. The intended contract will be for a base year and two option years. The maximum quantities of RAIDs to be acquired are as follows: 9 GB RAIDS -- 5 in the base year, 5 in the 1st Option, and 10 in the 2nd Option. 18 GB RAIDs -- 45 in the base year, 45 in the 1st Option, and 50 in the 2nd Option. The units will be delivered to the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center San Diego, Detachment Philadelphia, Philadelphia, PA. Deliveries will be required to be made within 30 days of the placement of each delivery order. It is intended to negotiate this requirement on a sole source basis with CIPRICO as they are the only known manufacturer of the ruggedized RAID assemblies that are compatible with the existing hardware and software configurations. Interested parties who contend that they are technically qualified must submit, within forty five days from publication of this announcement, specific factual data including pertinent technical information to be evaluated to determine competence to successfully perform the requirement. All technical proposals received within this time frame will be considered by the Government. The Government reserves the right not to open this requirement to competition based upon technical notices received in response to this announcement. Technical responses received as a result of this announcement will normally be considered solely for the purpose of whether to conduct a competitive procurement. The Government will not pay for any information received. The authority permitting other than full and open competition is 10 USC 2304(c)(1). The applicable SIC code is 3577.
