commercial or nondevelopmental items for the support of the 155mm M198
Towed Howitzer Artillery System as indicated below. PLUG is a
component of the elevating screw assembly on the 155mm, M198 Towed
Howitzer Artillery System. It is used to hold a spring ring set and
spacer plate inside of this assembly. It contains no other components
in its manufactured condition. It has a diameter dimension of 2.37
inches. It is machined from steel material, class P6 or Q6 per ASTM
A400 and is coated with a phosphate finish and dry film lubricant. It
is heat-treated to a hardness of Rockwell C34-38. SHOULDERED SHAFT is
a component of the elevating screw assembly on the 155mm, M198 Towed
Howitzer Artillery System. It contains no other components in its
manufactured state. It is a cylinder shaped part with an outside
diameter dimension of 1.90 inches and has a length dimension of 8.25
inches. It is manufactured from steel bar stock or seamless steel
tubing material, grade 4135 through 4150 per ASTM A519. It has an
external and internal machined involute spline. The shaft is heat
treated to a hardness of Rockwell C33-38 and is coated with a cadmium
finish per MIL-STD-171. HOUSING is a component of the elevating screw
assembly on the 155mm, M198 Towed Howitzer Artillery System. It holds
the shouldered shaft, bevels gears, bearings, seals and retainers. It
contains no other components in its machine finished state. It has a
width dimension of 8.500 inches and is about 11.00 inches long. It is
manufactured from an aluminum alloy casting material per specification
QQ-A-601. It is anodized, primed and top coated with paint in
accordance with MIL-STD-171. ACTUATING CYLINDER is a component of the
elevating screw assembly on the 155mm M198 Towed Howitzer Artillery
System. The cylinder houses the major internal components of this
assembly. The cylinder contains no other components in its machine
finished state. The actuating cylinder has an outside diameter
dimension of 4.38 inches and a length dimension of 56.14 inches. The
cylinder is machined from steel material, grade 4340 or 8640, per ASTM
A322 or A331 or seamless steel alloy tubing, grade 4340 or 8640 per
ASTM A519. The cylinder is finished with a black oxide coating and the
outside is painted per MIL-STD-171. THREADED MACHINE BUSHING is a
component of the elevating screw assy on the 155mm M198 Towed Howitzer
Artillery System. The bushing is threaded into the end of the
actuating cylinder of the assy. The bushing has a diameter dimension of
4.25 inches and its length is 2.14 inches. The threaded machine bushing
is manufactured from steel material, class Q1 or P2, per ASTM A400 or
seamless steel alloy tubing, grade 4135 through 4150 per ASTM A519. The
part is phosphate finished per MIL-STD-171 and coated with a dry
lubricant finish in accordance with MIL-L-46010. The part is
heat-treated to a hardness of Rockwell C34-38. ACTUATING CYLINDER is a
component of the elevating screw assembly on the 155mm, M198 Towed
Howitzer Artillery System. The cylinder houses the ball screw inside of
another actuating cylinder in the assy. The cylinder contains no other
parts in its machine finished state. The cylinder has an outside
diameter of 3.250 inches and a length dimension of 54.22 inches. The
actuating cylinder is manufactured from an aluminum material, allot
6061, temper T6, per specification QQ-0A-225/8. It is treated with an
anodized finish per MIL-STD-171 and coated with a dry lubricant finish
in accordance with MIL-L-46010. TUBE is a component of the elevating
screw assy on the 155mm M198 Towed Howitzer Artillery System. This
cylinder houses an actuating cylinder, ball screw and related parts of
the assy. This cylinder has an outside diameter of 4.12 inches and has
a length dimension of 50.19 inches. The tube is manufactured from
various aluminum alloy materials and is surface finished with an
anodized treatment and coated with a solid film lubricant per
MIL-STD-171. Any offeror having an item which meets the above
characteristics for any of the itemsidentified above, should submit the

advertisement. Provide the item description and performance
specification which addresses all the required capabilities, and any
other salient characteristics; estimated unit cost, production rates,
delivery schedules, quantity produced to date, customers, and
supporting commercial literature. Provide data to identify any special
training requirements for maintenance and operation. Describe what
training materials or commercial manuals are provided to users.
