Institute of Environmental Health Sciences intends to negotiate with
Battelle Memorial Institute, Battelle Columbus Operations, to conduct
a 30-day study of anthraquinone to evaluate liver P450s; liver and
kidney 9-hydroxydeoxyguanosine; cell proliferation in liver, kidney and
urinary bladder, and assessment of mutagenic activity of urine in male
and female treated. The contract period shall be extended to December
31, 1998. The Government anticipates an approximate level-of-effort of
2,210 hours for this additional task. Authority: 41 U.S.C. 253 (c)(1),
as set forth in FAR 6.302-1 and HHSAR 306-302-1. Inherent duplication
of cost to the Government and unacceptable delays in completing the
project make competition unfeasible for the additional tests required
