USDI, National Park Service, Point Reyes National Seashore, Point Reyes, CA 94956

Z -- WATERSHED RESTORATION AT REDWOOD NATIONAL PARK SOL 1443-IB-8530-98-009 POC Kris Swofford, Contracting Officer, 415/663-8522, ext 230 E-MAIL: Click here to request a copy of the solicitation via, kris_swofford@nps.gov. Furnish all labor, equipment, materials and supervision necessary to accomplish watershed restoration of 0.55 miles of the M-Line, 0.22 miles of the M-10, and 0.11 miles of associated spur roads in the hillslope area above Redwood located between Tom McDonald Creek and Forty Four Creek at Redwood National Park, approximately 6.5 miles south of the town of Orick, Humboldt County, CA. The project includes excavating road fill from stream channels, pulling back side- cast road fill, decompacting roads, retrieving and burying debris from logging and other activities (cable, abandoned vehicles, concrete foundations, etc), restoring the configuration of the pre-disturbed landforms (ridges, stream valleys and swales) along the road corridors and spreading the organic matter encountered during excavations on the finished surfaces. The nature of the work generally requires bulldozers to push fill up steep slopes and shape/finish slopes while side-hilling, and excavators to excavate fill and shape/finish slopes while sitting on steep slopes. The equipment will need to be used on steep terrain and in difficult working conditions. Access to some work sites, or portions of work sites, will require operator skill and dexterity to minimize access impacts over steep irregular ground. The size of excavations associated with this work can range from less than one hundred cubic yards to several thousand cubic yards in volume. Heavy equipment work is typically limited to 50-55 hours per week with at least two days off in any two week period, and will only be permitted between sunrise and sunset. It is expected that a Notice to Proceed will be issued approximately late August 1998 (pending determination of Threatened and Endangered Species restrictions), requiring the Contractor to start work within 5 days of receipt, and complete all base bid items within 90 days thereafter. The estimated price range of the base bid and all optional bid items is between $100,000 and $250,000. The Invitation for Bid will become available in early July with bids due 30 days after issuance. Interested parties may submit a written request for solicitation to the attention of the Contracting Officer at the Point Reyes address above or by facsimile to 415/663-8132. All responsible sources may submit a bid and will be considered. (0168)
